Key benefits

The health benefits of lemon essential oil are well supported by science. They include:

1. Help for the immune system:Lemon oil is high in vitamins, which are very important for the immune system. It stimulates white blood cells (usually lemon oil is rubbed into the skin of the neck in combination with coconut oil). The secret of lemon oil is the monoterpene d-limonene, a powerful antioxidant that is also useful in fighting cancer. Lemon oil is effective against infectious diseases such as fever, malaria and typhoid. If you rub your feet with a few drops of lemon and peppermint oil, you will bring down a high temperature. Lemon oil added to food protects it from pathogens such as E. coli and Salmonella. It improves blood circulation, reduces the deposition of cholesterol plaques in the blood vessels and protects against cardiovascular problems.

2. Stomach complaints:Lemon oil soothes a number of stomach problems, including indigestion (it improves digestion and prevents malabsorption), heartburn, pain and cramps. It calms the stomach and relieves nausea (add 3 drops of the oil to water to reduce burning and heartburn in the stomach).

3. Cleanses the body: Add 2 drops of the oil to a glass of water in the morning for a gentle, natural cleanse of the body – liver, kidneys and digestive system. It will also help destroy bacteria.

4. For concentration:Lemon oil helps increase concentration and alertness. Use it in a diffuser at your workplace or in the room where your children study to help focus on tasks. To freshen up, simply rub 1 drop into your hands and smell it.

5. Soothes a sore throat: Add 1–2 drops of the oil to a glass of warm water with honey to gargle for a sore throat.

6. Weight loss: It helps against obesity. Adding 1 drop of lemon oil to your favourite drink helps reduce the risk of overeating.

6. Insect repellent: Mix lemon oil with peppermint and eucalyptus oils to keep away ants and other insects.

7. Hair and nail care:Lemon oil provides healthy, shiny hair and eliminates dandruff. Just add a few drops of lemon oil to water in a spray bottle and spray your hair. Leave it to dry in the sun. Rub a little oil into your nails to keep them looking good.

8. Skin care: It has a tightening and detoxifying effect, and its antiseptic qualities help against rashes, pimples, acne and other skin problems. It reduces excess oiliness of the skin. Applied locally, it softens calluses, corns and warts and removes dead skin cells.

9. Asthma/allergy: Inhaling the scent of lemon clears the nasal cavity and sinuses, ensuring good breathing. Combining 1 drop each of lemon, lavender and peppermint oil diluted in a carrier oil and applying it to the soles of the feet, behind the ears and on the neck every day has a strong anti-allergic effect.

10. Improves mood: In combination with lavender oil, it improves mood and banishes sad thoughts and fatigue.

11. Oral hygiene: The oil is used for oral hygiene and as a remedy for halitosis (bad breath). To whiten teeth, mix lemon oil, baking soda and coconut oil and brush your teeth for 2 minutes; you can also do oil pulling with 1 drop of lemon oil in a spoonful of coconut oil.

12. In aromatherapy: Lemon oil blends well with many other essential oils such as chamomile, lavender, ylang-ylang, geranium, peppermint and other citrus oils. Aromatherapy with lemon oil has been found to help pregnant women with bouts of nausea and vomiting.

13. As a cleaning agent: It is used in the household to clean various surfaces, dishes and clothes. If you mix lemon oil with vinegar, you get a very effective cleaner. You can use it to remove chewing gum, labels and stains from carpets, hair, clothes, bottles, jars, scribbles, posters and wallpaper.

14. Insect repellent: Mix lemon oil with peppermint and eucalyptus oils against ants and other insects.

Description

Lemon essential oil is obtained by cold pressing lemon peel. The peel contains the most fat-soluble biologically active compounds.

Lemon oil has remarkable health effects! It helps improve our mood and concentration, but it is also used successfully for fever, infections, asthma, obesity, skin problems, hair problems, stomach upsets and fatigue. And that is far from all.

Lemon oil both stimulates and calms. It has anti-infective, astringent, detoxifying, antiseptic, disinfecting and antifungal properties. It is used in many areas of life, from cleaning the home and freshening the air to stimulating the lymph and supporting brain function. An added bonus is that it gives drinks and food a pleasant lemon flavour while protecting them from pathogens such as E. coli and Salmonella.

According to research published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology, lemon oil is the most powerful antimicrobial agent of all essential oils.

According to another study in Experimental Biology and Medicine, inhaling the scent of lemon oil improves neurological activity, which leads to the breakdown of body fat.
