Summer essential and plant oils: freshness, energy and balance inside and out
Jojoba oil is extracted by pressing the seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis plant. It consists mainly of higher fatty acids bound to higher alcohols. Although it is called an oil, it is actually a liquid wax. It is unique in composition and qualities among all other plant oils.
What is interesting about jojoba oil is that it closely resembles human sebum (which makes it a natural alternative to moisturisers). Jojoba oil penetrates the skin deeply and contains powerful antioxidants; it is easy to apply, absorbs quickly, and hydrates and strengthens the skin in depth.
Jojoba oil has a wonderful texture and can serve as a massage oil for both the body and the face.
Jojoba oil also contributes to the health and beauty of the hair – it moisturises, adds softness and shine and improves the structure of the hair, and is especially suitable for dry, split and tangled ends.
Jojoba oil is among the most popular plant oils because of its molecular stability. It is resistant to oxidation and practically does not go rancid, has an exceptionally long shelf life, and when added to other oils and oil blends it extends their shelf life.
Jojoba oil is versatile and is an ingredient in many homemade beauty and health recipes, and an excellent carrier for essential oils.
Pure jojoba oil has a light golden colour.
