Key benefits

1. Hemp seed oil is rich in GLA: Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is a necessary building block for some prostaglandins (hormone-like chemicals in the body) that help smooth muscles, control inflammation and body temperature, and are vital for other bodily functions. GLA supplementation is thought to be necessary for proper hormonal health, especially for women suffering from PMS symptoms. GLA acts on ADHD, breast pain, diabetes and diabetic neuropathy, heart disease, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, obesity, premenstrual syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and skin allergies.

2. For arthritis and joint pain: Studies show that hemp seed oil may be useful in relieving the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

3. For hair, skin and nails: Taking hemp seed oil improves dry, red, flaky skin. The oil also penetrates the inner layers of the skin and promotes healthy cell growth, which makes it very good for various skin problems.

4. Cancer: Thanks to its perfect ratio of fatty acids, hemp seed oil helps naturally balance inflammation levels and strengthen the immune system. The British Journal of Cancer reports that the THC found in hemp seeds may stop glioblastoma multiforme (a deadly form of brain cancer). The journal Breast Cancer Research and Treatment confirms that THC in hemp seeds improves early-stage breast cancer. Researchers at the University of Rostock, Germany, found evidence that cannabinoids derived from hemp seeds may prevent cancer growth and metastasis, especially in lung cancer. All this shows the potential of hemp seeds as one of the best anti-cancer foods.

5. Heart health:Hemp seed oil helps lower high blood pressure by reducing LDL cholesterol and raising HDL cholesterol.

6. Boosts immunity: The omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in hemp seed oil, with their powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, improve immunity, and the immunoglobulins build a natural barrier against germs, viruses, bacteria and toxins, thus strengthening the body's defences.

7. A good remedy for diabetics: Because of its low carbohydrate and sugar content, hemp seed oil is excellent for diabetics. Its nutrients help lower blood sugar levels.

8. For varicose veins: Like other products containing omega-3 acids, hemp seed oil thins the blood and thus reduces the risk of blood clots and varicose veins.

9. Supports a healthy pregnancy: The high omega-3 fatty acid content of hemp seed oil makes it a useful supplement for pregnant women. Studies have found that omega-3 fatty acids are vital during pregnancy. They support the healthy development of the baby's brain and eyes and may also help prevent maternal depression.

Description

Hemp seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. It is extracted by cold pressing, much as olives are cold-pressed to make olive oil. Although hemp and the cannabis (marijuana) plant belong to the same plant family, Cannabis sativa L, they are two different plants with different compositions.

While the cannabis plant has high levels of THC (up to 28%), the concentration of THC in the hemp plant does not exceed 0.3%. Products derived from the hemp plant are therefore unlikely to produce a “high” and are used mainly for medicinal purposes.

Hemp seed oil is a rich source of essential amino acids in an easily absorbed form and essential fatty acids in a perfect ratio. The ratio of omega-6 (linoleic acid) to omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) fatty acids is 3:1. Experts agree that this 3:1 ratio of fatty acids is ideal for human health.

Hemp seed oil contains vitamin E in the form of alpha, beta and gamma tocopherols and alpha tocotrienols.

Hemp seed oil is rich in potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, silicon, calcium, manganese, phosphorus, chromium and more.

Hemp seed oil is rich in lecithin, a lipid substance made up of choline and inositol that is needed by the brain and for maintaining the liver. It is a source of immunoglobulins, which work to boost immunity.
