Key benefits

1. Relieves pain: Because of its warming, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties, black pepper oil is useful for muscle injuries, tendonitis and the symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism. Rub the oil into the painful area.

2. Digestion: Black pepper oil can help relieve the discomfort of constipation, diarrhoea and gas. A number of studies show that it has antidiarrhoeal, gastroprotective and antispasmodic actions.

3. Lowers cholesterol: Use black pepper essential oil internally to reduce high triglyceride levels and improve total cholesterol.

4. Has antiviral properties: Long-term use of antibiotics has led to the evolution of multi-drug-resistant bacteria. Studies published in Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology show that black pepper oil has antivirulence properties, meaning that it targets bacterial virulence without affecting cell viability, which results in a lower tendency to develop drug resistance. The study showed that, after screening 83 essential oils, black pepper oil inhibited Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formation and almost eliminated the haemolytic (red-blood-cell-destroying) activity of S. aureus.

5. Promotes circulation: When black pepper essential oil is taken internally, it promotes healthy blood circulation and stimulates the flow of mucus and bile. It has a warming effect when taken internally or applied topically. Mix black pepper oil with cinnamon or turmeric oil to enhance this effect.

6. Shows anti-cancer activity: According to a 2010 study conducted at Michigan State University, black pepper oil and its components show anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer actions. All the compounds derived from black pepper suppressed the proliferation of human cancer cells, with piperine being the most effective compound.

7. Helps detoxify the body:Black pepper oil creates a warming sensation when applied topically, so it increases sweating. It also serves as a diuretic and increases urination, helping to remove toxins and excess water from the body. This reduces swelling and inflammation and helps lower blood pressure naturally.

8. Relieves anxiety and the urge to smoke:Black pepper oil can help reduce cravings for cigarettes and anxiety symptoms in smokers deprived of tobacco. Black pepper oil is among the best essential oils for anxiety and nervous conditions.

9. It can be used as a food preservative.
